Other Helpful Resources
These are some other resources which may help service providers especially:
Publications Guides from Vancouver Status of Women (scroll down for the following guides)
- Welfare Resource Guide for Women
- Single Mother's Resource Guide (2011-2012)
The City of Vancouver has links to other resources in Downtown Eastside, such as listings of where to find free and low-cost food and other comprehensive downtown resources such as clothes, dental services, laundry, showers, phones etcetera. Please also remember that these lists may be outdated, so we recommend calling the agencies directly for the most up-to-date information.
Political Action Toolkit (to influence political action around housing and homelessness) is a great resource. It outlines questions to ask your local MLA and party representatives, about what they will commit to doing around housing and homelessness.
If you are interested in making political changes with how housing and homelessness is approached in the city, visit Social Housing Coalition BC. Streettohome Foundation and Raising the Roof are also good organizations to look into.
SPARC BC (Social Planning and Research Council of BC) also has many publications and resources about affordable housing and homelessness.
