Co-op Housing
Co-operative Housing is owned and managed by the residents. Individuals pay an initial fee (share price) to become a member. Once they are members, they may live in their home for as long as they would like, provided they follow the rules of the co-op and pay their regular housing charge (a monthly fee like rent to help with the maintenance and upkeep of the home).
There are many co-ops within BC, and each co-op varies (price, location, time involvement with co-op). Only some housing co-ops are accepting applications. Details of a specific co-op should be asked directly to the co-op itself.
